This site is dedicated to the memory of Jeff Leadley.

The Princes Trust was Jeff's favourite charity. He first got involved by chance when he bid at a charity auction to take me round Highgrove gardens for my birthday. He then investigated the charity and felt it was doing lots of good and that he would like to support it. He believed that with the best possible start in life ie strong family, love and support, any one who worked hard enough could achieve their dreams. He was lucky enough to have that start in life and he wanted to be able to help others less fortunate in their beginnings to have that support to allow them to succeed as well. Recently I was encouraging him to become a mentor for the Princes Trust and I think if he had got bored with the motor racing [which he loved]that is something he would have gone on to do. He loved to make a difference to people, it was his "mission statement". He helped many who then became friends, encouraging, advising and even slightly bullying them to start in business or achieve whatever their dream was. He also greatly enjoyed the challenge of fathering two teenage daughters whom he treated as grown ups. He would calmly ask them many questions to allow them to work things out themselves instead of laying down the rules. This was another kind of mentoring. Also I know he took an interest in peoples' well being far beyond the business spectrum:he was very generous of himself and with his time. As a family, whilst we are of course infinitely sad to lose him, if any benefit through the Princes Trust can come from this tragedy then it will be of some comfort to us. Thoughts

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Jeff. I had the pleasure of working at J J Leadley Ltd from 1989 until he sold the business. He was a wonderful man to work for and I am sad that I didnt get to see him again. I remember him holding one of my baby twins in the showroom in Sutton In Ashfield and asking if he could have one of them. Obviously I said no, and not long after he announced that he and Rachel where expecting their own twins. I never met the girls, but my heart goes out to Rachel, Pippa and Millie.... may you find strength from one another in the months to come. I was at the memorial service in Southwell yesterday and thought it was a fitting tribute to a great man. May Jeff rest in peace XX

Bill and I have been thinking a lot about Jeff in the past few weeks. Its hard to understand how a man so vital has left our lives. We were always in awe of his capacity to think that anything is possible. It should have been his motto. That and generosity is everything. He's gone but we shall not forget him.

I've just heard the sad news of Jeff's passing and it has saddened me greatly. I have not had any contact with Jeff for some 20 plus years but way back in the 80's I too had the pleasure of working for him when he bought Breaston Motors (Mazda) off my Uncle, Jack Barker. The previously written words of Mary were so true and portrayed the Jeff that I too remember. It made me think back and I have one or two funny stories that I remember. My uncle (Jack Barker) was known to whistle quite a lot (old school garage man)and it got to the point where we knew he was 'on the way' because we could hear him whistling. On the day that Jeff took over Breaston Motors he came back from the solicitors and we were all a bit on edge but he came in and said well that's that then. I said right there's two things I want to ask you, One, what do we call you? Two, Can you whistle?....! His answers were "Jeff of course" and "Whistle"!!!! We explained and he liked that and it broke the ice!!!!!! He never did though!!! Another time I wore a black & white dress to a promotion day that we held (he did like his promotion days did Jeff)anyway at the last minute I put a red scarf round my neck because I thought it needed that little something else! In Jeff's eyes though I had dressed in 'Leadley' colours and insisted on knowing if my underwear matched too. I did have a photo of him asking me this question and we were both laughing our heads off, I think drink was involved! It usually was. Silly memories but mine. He made an impression on me that's for sure. Lovely Lovely Man.
